Our Story

How We Met

Guy Version
Met a year or two ago at church, started hanging around the same folks, God brought us together and here we are.
Girl Version
So, there I was :) serving on staff at my church, and I met Aaron who was visiting on a Sunday morning. Over the course of a year, we built a friendship by being in the same friend groups and in the same church. This also lended us the ability to see one another pursuing our passions and being our complete selves. Fast forward a few months and we were both not only interested in one another, but finding ourselves in situations that felt set up by God Himself, and also our closest friends :) Because of feelings I was having toward Aaron by this time, I prayed that God would make it very clear what his feelings were toward me (and soon) and within a few days, Aaron not only asked me on a date, but we had the conversation about our feelings for one another AT Fiddlers Grove where we are NOW getting married :) Since that moment God has continually confirmed, in even the small things, that He brought us together, and that this was His plan. Being with Aaron has been the greatest gift and I am incredibly GRATEFUL and honored to be His Kingdom partner in this life.

The Proposal

Guy Version
Oh seriously? Guys are reading this? Well, we were out at the Opryland Hotel to see the Christmas lights, 'cus we love those, and I wrote her a letter and asked her to marry me. She made me do it twice.
Girl Version
So there I was again :) I knew it was coming, I just didn't know when. We knew pretty quickly in our relationship that we wanted to get married, but Aaron didn't want me to guess when the proposal might be, so he kept it all pretty quiet! We had planned a date night to go see the Christmas lights at Opryland Hotel, because we both LOVE Christmas and we both love seeing their display every year. Earlier in the day I got my feelings hurt because we had a change in our plans, so when Aaron picked me up for our date he made extra effort to talk through my disappointment and apologize to me (which, his humility is super special to me). Once we talked it through we got pizza and then headed to see the Christmas lights! (It's funny now, but I felt to paint my nails that morning, and even more than that, I felt to paint them a specific color which I wouldn't understand until later in the evening.) After walking around the lights inside, we headed to the life-size nativity scene and carriage rides outside (this part of the display is my favorite). Aaron mentioned he wanted to find a place to sit to see the lights and "take it all in." We found a bench tucked away but with the ability to see the lights. Once we sat down, he said, "I still feel horrible about earlier so I wrote you a letter to let you know what I appreciate about you and how I feel." It was titled "The 12 Days of Callie" with 12 corresponding attributes he loves about me :) He also numbered the pages (1-6). Once I got to the bottom of page 5 I realized there was no page 6. (At this point I started wondering...) We "looked" around for page 6 and then he noticed that it was tucked in his inside coat pocket. When I opened it, it said "Callie Loren, will you marry me?" Shocked and excited I said, "this is happening! This is actually happening!!" Once it all settled in, I asked him to propose again now that I was coherent, and he did :)
(also, the color I felt to paint my nails was the same color as the stone in my ring! Talk about God's details!)
